Community comes to aid of young Oakdale family that lost home in fire

|

A GoFundMe page has been started to help out a young family that saw their Oakdale home destroyed by fire early Thursday.

The Flood family — a husband and wife and their two small children — escaped injury in the blaze that was reported about 1 a.m., but the roof of their four-bedroom home eventually caved in and the structure was gutted. The family’s personal belongings were lost in the fire.

Four fire departments responded to the fire.

Oakdale community member Craig Lindahl organized the fundraiser, which had raised $18,350 from 200 donors, as of late Thursday. The fundraiser’s objective is “to help the family recover from a devastating house fire.”

”I am sorry about the loss of your home. Thank goodness you and your family are safe,” donor Deborah McGrath commented on the “Help the Flood Family” GoFundMe page. “I hope this helps a bit.”

According to Zillow.com, the property most recently sold for $472,000 in 2017.
