Sayville is hosting a “Momma-Mania” event this Sunday, May 2, giving locals a chance to buy — and maybe win — something special to give Mom on Mother’s Day, May 9.
“This will be a beautiful day to honor Mom with special gifts and sparkly trinkets,” said Eileen Tyznar, president of the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce, which is presenting the event. “Dads will have so much to choose from while shopping with their kids. This will also be a great way to show our support for our downtown businesses.”
Here’s a sampling of what’s in store at “Momma-Mania.”
• Discounted specials at participating shops and restaurants along Main Street, South Main and Railroad Avenue.
• Music on the steps of Chase Bank from 12:30-4 p.m., presented by Jack Licitra and his students at South Bay Arts in Bayport.
• Mother’s Day baskets full of special gifts, along with a lottery card wreath and gift cards, will be raffled off at 4:30 p.m. (Winners who aren’t present will be notified by phone.)
Tyznar said shoppers who show a receipt for a purchase of $10 or more from a downtown store or restaurant will receive a free raffle ticket at the chamber’s raffle table next to Lacrosse Unlimited.
The event’s organizers noted that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines require that masks be worn, and that social distancing rules will apply at all times.
