|

Make it a dozen.

For the 12th straight year, Sayville Public Schools has received the “Best Communities for Music Education” designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM).

The award goes to school districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide access to music for all students, as part of a well-rounded education. Bayport-Blue Point schools was also honored by the program, now in its 22nd year.

To qualify for the 2021 designation, the Sayville Music Department answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.

The responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

Renowned for being its dedication to the arts, Sayville first received the national music education accolade in 2004. Sayville and Bayport-Blue Point are among 636 schools across the United States that were honored this year with the distinction.
