Sayville football wrote another exciting chapter Friday night in its historic spring football season.

The undefeated Golden Flashes lambasted Hauppauge, 41-6, in the semi-finals of the Suffolk County Conference III playoffs. Sayville, with a high-powered spread offense and stingy defense, has produced an overwhelming 215-48 cumulated scoring advantage in its five games.

Going into the home playoff contest, Sayville was ranked No. 7 in the state by the MaxPreps high school website.

After sprinting to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter, the Golden Flashes closed out the first half leading by the same score.

Sayville senior quarterback Jack Cheshire connected on a 15-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Messina with 2:16 remaining in the third quarter to put the Golden Flashes up 27-0.

Cheshire, who tossed for 500-plus yards last week against Westhampton, scrambled to his right on the play, then threw across his body after dashing toward the sideline and planting his feet just before the out of bounds line.

In the fourth quarter, Cheshire broke from the pocket and scampered six yards into the end zone to give Sayville a 41-0 lead.
