Check this out, Sayville.

Your high school football team is ranked seventh in New York state this week by MaxPreps.com.

The high school sports website ranked the undefeated Golden Flashes higher than any other team in Suffolk or Nassau. Oceanside at No. 10 is the only other Long Island team on the site’s Top Ten list for New York.

The high ranking comes as Sayville (4-0) prepares to host Hauppauge (3-1) on Friday, April 16, at 6 p.m. in a Suffolk Conference III semi-final playoff game.

Fueling the No. 7 ranking was a convincing 24-0 win two weeks ago over William Floyd, which finished the regular season as the top team in Suffolk’s League I. Sayville, which has a much smaller high school population than Floyd, is in League VI.

In its four blowout wins this March and April, Sayville has outscored its opponents 174-42. The Golden Flashes capped off their historic spring regular season last Friday with a Senior Night win at home, 47-21 over Westhampton. Check out the game in its entirety below.
