Sayville High School teacher is WBLI ‘Teacher of the Month’

|

A social studies teacher at Sayville High School is WBLI’s Teacher of the Month for February.

Susan Hart and the colleague who nominated her, fellow social studies instructor LynnAnn Perlin, were interviewed on Syke and MJ in the Morning’s “Teacher Tuesday” this week. WBLI, together with College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving, honor one special teacher on Long Island each month.

Hart received a $250 gift card from College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving to buy school supplies. She also took home a special Teacher-of-the-Month plaque, and an additional $250 gift card just for her.

“Congratulations go to Mrs. Hart for receiving recognition for her exuberance, dedication, and tireless commitment to enliven history for her Sayville students, not only in the classroom, but with community-service activities with History Club,” Sayville Public Schools said in a statement.

WBLI noted Hart’s outstanding work in the classroom and for the community.

“From organizing luncheons for local veterans to setting up workshops and cultural dinners for students to help understand diversity, to even spending weekends taking her students on historical tours, Mrs. Hart is such a great educator!” the station said in a Facebook post.
