Late start for Sayville, Connetquot and BBP schools on Monday, Feb. 8

|

Bayport-Blue Point, Connetquot and Sayville school districts all have two-hour delays on Monday, Feb. 8, due to the anticipated poor road conditions left behind by Sunday’s snowstorm.

This marks the second time this month that school schedules have been disrupted by snow. Last week, classes were cancelled on Monday and Tuesday when a nor’easter dumped more than a foot of snow across Suffolk County.

Most of Suffolk saw between 6-9 inches of snow over about nine hours on Sunday, ahead of Super Bowl LV, which started at 6:30 p.m. More snow is expected on Tuesday and Thursday, though probably not enough to further disrupt school schedules.

Power outages were minimal. As of 11 p.m., there were nine outages across Suffolk, affecting less than 115 customers. With temperatures dipping into the teens overnight Sunday, road conditions were expected to be icy for the morning commute.

Yesterday’s snowfall brought plenty of opportunities for fun and taking pretty wintery scenes. Consider the cuteness in the afternoon tweet below.
