Final election count: Bayport and Blue Point preferred Trump over Biden

|

President Donald Trump scored decisive wins over Joe Biden in Bayport and Blue Point in the presidential election, according to final vote totals released in recent days by the Suffolk County Board of Elections.

Trump won nine of the 11 election districts in the two communities, while defeating president-elect Joe Biden by nearly eight percentage points — 53.2 to 45.4.

The final tally — once the counting of all mail-in ballots from the Nov. 3 election was completed this month — saw Trump getting 4,608 votes and Biden receiving 3,926 across Bayport-Blue Point.

The two candidates performed similarly in both hamlets, with Trump collecting 53.2 percent of the vote in Bayport’s seven election districts to Biden’s 45.4, and Trump pulling in 53.3 percent of the total in Blue Point’s four election districts to Biden’s 45.3.

Biden notched a decisive win in Brookhaven Town’s Election District 48, located on the bay in Blue Point, just west of Blue Point Avenue. There, he earned 52.1 percent of the vote, while Trump gained 46.8 percent.

The president-elect’s only other Bayport-Blue Point win came in Bayport, in Islip Town’s Election District 79, where he earned just six more votes than Trump.

Trump — who is disputing his decisive overall loss, nationally, to Biden, and has yet to concede — performed particularly well in Islip Town’s Election District 166, an area boxed by Lakeview Avenue, Railroad Street, Second Avenue and Barton Lane. He earned 59.5 percent of the vote there, with Biden pulling in just 39.2 percent.

The results were similar in Brookhaven’s Election District 14 in Blue Point. The bayside district, located east of Blue Point Avenue, delivered 57.8 person of its vote to Trump and 39.4 percent to Biden.

In Suffolk County, Trump edged Biden by 232 votes. Trump had 49.4 percent of the vote; Biden had 49.37 percent.

Biden defeated Trump in the national election, earning 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232. The president-elect’s popular vote margin over Trump is more than 7 million.
