Tradition-loving families and friends joined Santa Claus and the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce on Sunday for the hamlet’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Sayville.
Santa himself lifted the lever to light up the tree in color during an event that twinkled with hope and joy. Serving as emcee was the always effervescent chamber President Eileen Tyznar, the 14th annual ceremony’s chief organizer and Santa’s top elf in town.
“Sayville never disappoints … we plan to keep up the cheer, we plan to keep up the merry and we plan to keep up the bright,” Tyznar said during an event aired live on the Sayville Chamber’s Facebook page.

Santa arrived on the scene in exuberant fashion, leading the crowd in singing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
“I love all of you,” Santa said after lighting the tree. “Thank you so much. Merry Christmas.”
Not only was GreaterSayville.com downtown at Sparrow Park to catch the shining moment, but we bounced around West Sayville and Sayville throughout the afternoon and evening to capture the community’s holiday spirit.
