St. Ann’s annual Christmas Raffle goes online and is bigger and better than ever

A one-week vacation in Vermont, the coveted Xbox Series X game system, over $1,000 in gift cards and a 50/50 jackpot raffle.

The pandemic may have forced the cancelation of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church‘s Holiday Fair this year, but the Sayville church’s Christmas Raffle carries on with an impressive and expanded roster of prizes.

Organizers have moved the raffle platform online, enabling anyone, anywhere to enter.

Physical raffle tickets can be purchased at St Ann’s during Christmas tree sales on weekends, starting Nov. 28, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and weekdays 6-9 p.m. through Dec 6.

St. Ann’s popular holiday fair for decades has been one of the parish’s largest fundraisers. The Christmas Raffle is one of the most popular aspects of the fair, said Nicole LaFountaine, the Christmas Raffle chairperson.

In years past, the raffle prizes were donated, with most coming from local merchants and restaurants. This year it’s different, LaFountaine explained.

“We felt it was most important to support the local businesses that have supported St. Ann’s over the years,” she said. “I asked our parishioners to purchase gift cards from our local stores and restaurants — that are now part of the prizes being raffled raffled off. The response was amazing.”

The raffle includes more than $1,000 in gift cards to over a dozen local establishments and a one-week stay in a condo in Smugglers Notch, Vermont.

“We even have an entire prize package entitled ‘Shop Local.’ We have also expanded our prizes outside of the local area to best utilize the online platform,” LaFountaine said.

Winners will be announced live on St. Ann’s Facebook page Sunday, Dec. 13, at 4 p.m. They will also be notified by email.
