Sayville seven sign to play DI and DII college sports

|

Three lacrosse players, a field hockey player and three softball teammates gathered at Sayville High School this week to sign letters of intent to play DI and DII college women’s sports.

The seven Sayville High School senior girls are off to Stanford, Penn State, Army, Towson University, Vermont, LeMoyne and Emery Riddle Aeronautical University.

The group was all smiles — even when behind their pandemic masks — for a photo op with their parents and coaches.

Brooke Hoss: Penn State lacrosse

Brooke Hoss began playing varsity lacrosse in seventh grade. The team captain has tallied 83 goals, 45 assists and 185 career draw controls. She is a member of Athletes Helping Others and the National Honor Society, and routinely volunteers at the Special Olympics and other local charity events.

Erin Schaefer: Stanford lacrosse

Erin also kicked off her varsity lacrosse career in seventh grade. The team captain set a Sayville season-record with 45 assists in 2019. The senior captain has recorded 124 career ground balls. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Athletes Helping Others.

Meghan McLaughlin: Army West Point lacrosse

Meghan, who is also a team captain, first played varsity lacrosse in eighth grade. She has 26 career goals, 20 assists and 68 ground balls. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Rho Kappa Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, World Languages Honor Society, Model UN and the Global Affairs Club. Meghan is the senior class vice president and has played varsity soccer since her freshman year.

Regan Hillery: Vermont field hockey

Regan is a five-year varsity starter for Sayville’s field hockey team. She was named All State in 2019, All County in 2018 and All Division in 2017. She has been selected to the National Futures Championship from 2015-2020. This year, she earned a spot on the Philadelphia Field Hockey International Team, which was scheduled to compete in Limerick, Ireland, before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Elizabeth Yoskowitz: Towson softball

Elizabeth, who has earned a 4.0 GPA in high school, began playing varsity softball in seventh grade. As a sophomore in 2019, she had the highest batting average in Suffolk County and was an All State, second team selection. That season, she scored the game-winning run in the Long Island championship. Elizabeth also ran for the high school’s winter track team.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Peer Leadership Program, Leadership Club and Athletes Helping Others.

Mallory Kinahan: Embry Riddle Aeronautical University softball

Mallory, an honor roll student every quarter while a student at Sayville High School, was an All Division softball player on Sayville’s 2019 Long Island champion team. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the World Language Honor Society.

Dominique Rinaldi: LeMoyne softball

Dominique has played varsity field hockey, basketball and softball for Sayville. A member of the National Honor Society and AP Scholar Honors, Dominique was named to the NFHCA High School National Academic Squad for field hockey.
