Fire Marshal Dan of Sayville gets a pretty cool send-off from Islip

|

Islip Town Fire Marshal II Dan Karl — a volunteer with the Sayville Fire Department for more than 18 years — received an especially fun send-off upon his retirement this week.

Staffers at the town’s fire marshal and public safety offices joined town Supervisor Angie Carpenter in a “walk out” to celebrate Karl’s decade with fire marshal’s office.

“On behalf of the members of the Town Board and the residents of our town, we are grateful for your service and we wish you all the best in this new chapter,” Carpenter said.

Karl, who received a standing ovation/clap out during the send-off, was promoted to his current rank in 2018. He has represented the office in Fifth District Court for more than years, and he has served in the role of safety officer for Islip during major events.

Carpenter was joined by Public Safety Commissioner Anthony D’Amico and Deputy Commissioner Anthony Prudenti.
