‘Johnny Appleseed’ survives in Bayport school

|

Because everyone remembers their Johnny Appleseed lesson from elementary school. Right?

COVID-19 and remote education didn’t get in the way of Academy Street Elementary School teacher Robyn Danes from carrying out the time-honored and invaluable lesson.

And the outcome was, well, very cute!

Danes led her remote class in an online celebration of Johnny Appleseed Day, encouraging her students to dress like him with pots on their head, and performing activities relating to apples, including reading and making an apple volcano with baking soda and vinegar.

John “Johnny Appleseed” Chapman was a leader in conservation who introduced apple trees to large parts of several states and Ontario, Canada.
