Bohemia gentlemen’s club stripped of liquor license for COVID-19 violations

No masks. No distance. And no food.

It all adds up to a suspended liquor license for a Bohemia strip club cited by New York state authorities for egregious violations of coronavirus-related Executive Orders.

Temptations Gentlemen’s Club on Carlough Road is among the 33 bars and restaurants across the state that have most recently had their alcohol-serving privileges revoked for COVID-19 violations, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced today. The total number of liquor license suspensions during the pandemic is up to 201.

Investigators with the state’s multi-agency task force on Aug. 29 observed about 10 Temptations patrons and employees — most without facial coverings — standing, congregating and lingering directly in front of the premises, ignoring social distancing guidelines, the governor’s office said.

Inside the club, the authorities observed two bartenders, multiple security guards and a dancer performing a lap dance all not wearing facial coverings. Furthermore, customers were ignoring social distancing and no food was being served at tables throughout the establishment.

Businesses found in violation of COVID-19 regulations face fines up to $10,000 per violation, while egregious violations can result in the immediate suspension of a bar or restaurant’s liquor license.

“New Yorkers have worked together to stop the spread of coronavirus — but with our infection rate hovering around 1 percent and the threat of a second wave on the horizon, we must double down on the successful strategies that have helped us over the last six months,” Cuomo said.

“This action should serve as a reminder to the small number of establishments who openly flout the rules that they are putting all New Yorkers at risk, and they will be held accountable.”

Temptations was the scene of a fatal shooting last month. A 27-year-old was killed in the Aug. 23 incident right outside the club.
