Tickets: Sayville drive-in double feature on Aug. 22: ‘Willy Wonka’ and ‘Grease’

|

Willy Wonka and Danny Zuko are the featured attractions Saturday, Aug. 22, for Sayville’s second drive-in movie event this summer.

The Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce is hosting a double feature — “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” at 8 p.m. and “Grease” at 10 p.m — at the Islip Grange on Broadway Avenue.

The first chamber drive-in movie event was a big success that featured a full slate of weekend showings of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and “Sonic the Hedgehog 2020.” The chamber stressed that all Centers for Disease Control guidelines relating to COVID-19 will be practiced.

Tickets for the fundraising event are $35 per vehicle, with proceeds going to the Sayville Small Business Relief Fund. Each car gets an envelope with a chance to win one of the “Golden Ticket” raffle baskets (queue the twinkly magical movie moment when Charlie found a Golden Ticket in his Willy Wonka candy bar) donated by local businesses.

Additionally, three prizes will be given for the best “Grease” costumes. Organizers said free popcorn will be available during both shows and Roxy’s Ice Cream Truck will be on hand selling refreshing treats.

Line-up for the event begins at 7:30 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 23.

Here’s what else you need to know before you go:

• Vehicles must be parked as directed by event staff and attendees must remain in their designated car space.

• Vehicle headlights must remain off while parked.

• Rooftop or tailgate storage containers and bike racks should be removed prior to arrival at the event.
