More than 2,000 protesters attended a peaceful Black Lives Matter rally Sunday afternoon in Sayville.

The participants gathered in The Common Ground near downtown Sayville about 1 p.m. before walking together south to Sayville Marina Beach Park.

Communities across Long Island and the country — and even the world — have been host to protests in response to the death of George Floyd, a black man who died on Memorial Day, after being pinned down by a then-Minneapolis cop who prosecutors say held his knee on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes. contributor Brianna Harmon was in Sayville to capture the moment on Sunday.
