JT’s Café in Blue Point to reopen for takeout; JT’s on the Bay opens in late May

The landmark JT’s Cafe on Montauk Highway in Blue Point is set to reopen Friday for breakfast and lunch, owner Justin Tempelman tells us.

The hours will then be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.

Delivery options through third-party services are in the works, but for takeout people can simply call 631.363.9562.

Also, Tempelman’s Blue Point staple JT’s on the Bay at the marina is slated to open for takeout the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, May 22. Check back for details.

“We just want to be there for the community,” said Tempelman of Blue Point. “People have been texting us. They want to support us and we want to be there for them. We want to feed them.”

He said the reopening of JT’s Café, closed since mid-March because of the COVID-19 pandemic and state-imposed dining restrictions, will serve as a sort of beta test for his other restaurants.

“We’ll iron out all the kinks,” he said.

If all goes well, he’ll look to reopen JT’s Farmhouse, which opened in Bayport this past winter and had been regularly packed ever since.

The Farmhouse also closed in March.

“We’re going to open everything up slowly,” he said.
