Bohemia man’s Wiffle Ball stadium is ‘greatest backyard ever,’ the Mets say

Diets, workout regimens and crazy amounts of time spent on TikTok. Quarantine for tons of Long Islanders has been a period of either self-improvement or self-indulgence.

But for Ryan Dalton of Bohemia, self-isolation gave him the chance to reimagine his backyard Wiffle Ball stadium. And guess who noticed? The New York Mets.

“Ryan Dalton of Bohemia, NY won the greatest backyard ever and it wasn’t even close,” read the Mets “Dream Yard” Facebook post featuring Dalton’s Instagram video of “Dalton’s Wiffle Ball Field.”

“Check out what I have been doing to my Wiffle Ball field during quarantine,” Dalton, an LIU Post alum and diehard Mets fan, said in his April 16 Instagram post.

The field is indeed a thing of beauty. It features a miniature replica of Fenway Park’s Green Monster, a Polar Bear porch in honor of Mets home run king Pete Alonso, a press box and a Shea Stadium-like scoreboard.

There’s even a sign-in sheet for those lucky enough to play there.

As part of a New Year’s Eve family tradition, Dalton, a catcher during his playing days at LIU from 2016-2019, and his cousins face off each year against their dads.

qb54trickshotdude‘s comment on Dalton’s Instagram photos said it best: “This is the most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen! “
