Ice cream trucks are ‘non-essential,’ Islip Town cautions public

|

It was no April fools’.

With all the seriousness of a Thursday morning Tweet, the Town of Islip alerted the public this week that ice cream trucks are not an essential service under Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s “New York State on PAUSE” executive order.

The post on the town’s Twitter account stated that “in accordance with New York State guidelines during COVID-19, ice-cream trucks are classified as non-essential.”

In recent weeks, ice cream trucks have been seen and heard operating in Islip hamlets. The governor’s executive order has been in place since March 22, and will continue to be deep into spring.
