Places that may remain open include pharmacies, grocery stores and food delivery services, among others. Cuomo deemed food delivery and takeout services as “essential” in his announcement.

Cuomo today also called for the temporary closure of barbershops and hair and nail salons in New York.

On Thursday, the governors of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut announced indoor portions of retail shopping malls, as well as amusement parks and bowling alleys in the four states would close by 8 p.m. that day.
