The wheels are already set in motion for next September’s annual Blue Island Oyster Festival at the edge of the Great South Bay in West Sayville.
There’s only 500 tickets available, and organizers are getting the word out fast and early. Hosted by Blue Island Oyster Foundation and Blue Island Oysters, the fifth-annual event is set for Sept. 19, noon to 4 p.m. It takes place at Blue Island Oysters, located at 136 Atlantic Ave.

The event benefits the Blue Island Oyster Foundation and Save the Great South Bay, organizations dedicated to raising awareness of how to protect our the Great South Bay.
Oyster farmers from across Long Island — and some from outside the state — will be shucking mouthwatering oysters throughout the event. Local restaurants also participate, serving up delicious tastings.
Live music is also a big part of the festival.
