Two Bayport-Blue Point brothers set to open their third restaurant and bar

The Tartaglia brothers out of Bayport-Blue Point just keep winning.

Already enjoying the fruits of their labor at  Verde Kitchen & Cocktails and Coastal Kitchen & Daiquiri Bar, both in Bay Shore, Anthony and Andrew Tartaglia are set to open their third restaurant, this time in neighboring Brightwaters.

The Bayport-Blue Point High School graduates are bringing along three staffers from Verde and Coastal as part-owners. The group recently took possession of Brightwaters Inn and expect to be open for business sometime in March.

They got to work yesterday on improving the space to establish a new neighborhood bar and grille in the heart of the village. But fear not, Inn loyalists. The new owners are keeping the pool table and dart board.

And, they’re sticking with the name.

“It’ll be Brightwaters Inn,” said Anthony Tartaglia, who owns Verde and Coastal with his brother, Andrew, both of Bay Shore.

The brothers have added James Howell, Nick Ketcham, and Ian Soukup — the staffers from Verde and Coastal — to the Brightwaters Inn ownership team.

Anthony Tartaglia said today they all liked the space at 200 Orinoco Drive, because “it’s a good neighborhood bar.”

“We’re not doing anything fancy,” he said.

Tartaglia spoke similarly in 2016 about Coastal, which opened in January 2018 in the old Bay Shore Furriers building on Main Street.

The vision for Coastal was to build out a modern, hip restaurant and bar with an old-school neighborhood vibe. Hence, the darts, billiards and shuffleboard inside.

What resulted was a mega-hit; Coastal is jam-packed every night of every weekend, and often during the day.

The prior Brightwaters Inn owners took over the place about two years ago.

“They made some nice upgrades and improvements,” Anthony Tartaglia said. “We’re going to continue down that path with more, minor improvements.

“We’re re-doing the kitchen, the bar, and making the backyard really nice for the warmer months,” he added.

As for the food, Anthony Tartaglia said Brightwaters will serve up standard pub food, with an emphasis on burgers and wings.

Paying homage to their roots as bar and restaurant owners, the new Brightwaters owners offer Verde margaritas and Coastal daiquiris.

“With maybe two to three other, very approachable drinks,” Anthony Tartaglia said. “We are also keeping as much of the staff as possible. We want a smooth transition and the old owners spoke very highly of everyone, so we’ll be looking to continue those relationships as well.”
