Sayville varsity field hockey team’s classroom performance earns national recognition

|

This is no bully: Sayville’s varsity field hockey team hits the books, big time.

Because of the outstanding collective classroom performance of its juniors and seniors, the Golden Flashes have been named to the 2019 Keith Waldman — Optimal Performance Associates/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) High School National Academic Squad.

The High School National Academic Squad program recognizes teams with high school seniors and juniors who have achieved a minimum cumulative, unweighted grade-point average of 3.5 out of 4.0 — or the equivalent — through the first quarter of the 2019-20 school year.

The following Sayville players were acknowledged for their high academic achievements.

Brieanna Baldante, Caroline Crawford, Tara Donohue, Kyla Fitzsimmons, Kathleen Gozaloff, Ashley Luffman, Emily Maha, Adreanna Martin, Kimberly McCarthy, Morgan Peres, Dominique Rinaldi and Lindsay Walker.

On the field this fall, the Golden Flashes won nine of the 14 games.
