Lessing’s — owner of View and Timber Point — donated 5,000 meals this holiday season

|

Three holiday giving campaigns spearheaded by Lessing’s Hospitality Group resulted in more than 5,000 meals being served to people and families in need, the Great River-based company said.

Fueled by the social media hashtags #SpreadtheCheer and #DoGood, the initiatives benefitted Island Harvest Food Bank, a hunger-relief organization that carries a mission “to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island.”

Lessing’s kicked off their season of giving Nov. 22 at the 11th Annual Bethpage Turkey Drive, donating 100 frozen turkeys to the food bank. It was a donation that directly benefited food pantries across the island, Lessing’s, which owns View, a waterfront restaurant in Oakdale, and Timber Point in Great River.

In December, Lessing’s partnered with Simple Vodka to provide meals to the hungry. During the holiday season, Simple Vodka donated 1,000 additional meals to Island Harvest Food Bank — one for every Simple Vodka holiday cocktail sold at a Lessing’s restaurant.

Also during the holiday season, Lessing’s pledged to donate 10% of the sales of Local Cheer, the company’s own winter beer, which is brewed at Blue Point Brewing Company in Patchogue. That campaign resulted in a $2,000 donation to Island Harvest.

Lessing’s takes part in and hosts several giving and service-minded initiatives during the year, including beach clean-ups, charitable campaigns and their annual MPS Race during October. The company operates 17 wedding and catering venues, 10 full-service restaurants, over 80 corporate and academic dining centers, nine Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza franchises and a historic inn.
