Wanted: Axe throwing coach for Bohemia’s Axe Island (training provided)

|

It’s ok if you’ve never even picked one up before.

The owners at Bohemia’s Axe Island — Long Island’s newest axe-throwing venue — will train you to be an axe throwing coach.

Set to open by the spring, Axe Island has initiated a job search to start filling out its staff.

“No Experience Necessary, we will provide all the training needed for this position,” reads the Facebook announcement seeking an axe throwing coach. “Your job will to be to explain our safety rules, provide some basic coaching on how to throw an axe, and lead your group in gameplay.”

Sayville businessman Storm Morales, who is opening the trendy axe-throwing range with fellow acupuncturist Kathleen Connolly, said they are looking for enthusiastic people to join their family oriented team.

“We are very excited about opening its doors to Long Island,” said Morales, who owns Acupuncture by Storm in Sayville. “At this time, we are hiring and training staff for our grand opening this coming spring. We look forward to a great year … and making Axe Island a safe and welcoming place for all.”

Flexible hours for axe throwing coach

The position is part-time and pays $15 an hour. The hours are flexible. You can click here to apply.

Located in a 5,000-square-foot facility at 1626 Locust Ave. (super close to Veterans Highway), Axe Island will be the second axe-throwing range to open in the area in recent months, following Molly Hatchets Urban Axe Throwing, which opened in Ronkonkoma last summer.

Similar to dart throwing and bowling, axe-throwing participants aim for their targets in reserved lanes, taking aim with one or both hands at wood targets about 21 feet away. Axe Island will feature eight targets in four cages that each accommodate groups of up to 12.

The plan also includes a beer and cider bar and a full-service café with espresso and cappuccino.
