Jack Coan on the big stage in today’s Rose Bowl: Here’s what you need to know

Sayville’s Jack Coan in his first full season as Wisconsin’s starting quarterback helped lead the Badgers to the Big Ten West crown and an invitation to today’s Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

No. 8 Wisconsin (10-3) squares off against Pac-12 champion Oregon (11-2) at 5 p.m. Here’s what else you need to know about Coan’s season and the big game.

Rose Bowl experience: This is Wisconsin’s 10th Rose Bowl appearance. They have won three of the first nine. Their losses include a 45-38 defeat to Oregon in 2012.

Oregon experience: Wisconsin has a 3-2 lifetime record against Oregon.

Coan’s bowl resume: As a sophomore, he guided Wisconsin last year to a 35-3 win over Miami in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium. He threw for one touchdown, completing 6 of 11 passes for 73 yards.

Coan’s 2019 resume: The junior has the seventh-best pass completion percentage in the nation and is ranked 15th in the country for pass efficiency. He has thrown for 2,541 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Oregon’s passing defense: The Ducks this season have allowed 223 passing yards per game.
