It’s not just about football: Wisconsin’s Coan earns Academic All-Big Ten honors

|

The accolades keep coming for Jack Coan in what’s been an incredible junior season as Wisconsin’s starting quarterback.

The Sayville legend has earned Academic All-Big Ten Team honors for the fall semester, the conference announced.

Coan, who majors in real estate and urban land economics, was already riding high this month on the Badgers’ selection to play in the Rose Bowl on Wednesday, Jan. 1, against Oregon.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Coan is one of 34 Wisconsin football players on the list.

Coan, in his first full season as the Badgers’ first-string signal caller, helped guide No. 8 Wisconsin (10-3) to the Big Ten West title. Wisconsin gave No. 2 Ohio State fits in the Big Ten championship game, leading 21-7 at halftime before eventually falling 34-21 to the Buckeyes.

Coan has the seventh-best pass completion percentage in the nation and he is ranked 15th in the country for pass efficiency. He looks to help lead the Badgers to their first Rose Bowl win since 2000.
