20 Photos: Smiles and happy tummies at opening night at The Shed in West Sayville

|

Hundreds of Long Islanders found their new happy place Tuesday in West Sayville as The Shed officially opened inside the renovated mansion at 21 Main St.

The restaurant started serving brunch at 10 a.m. and didn’t take a breath until deep into the night. Executive Chef Roberto “Bobby” Baez said he was thrilled by the turnout, noting that the kitchen anticipated and was well-prepared for a hungry stream of customers. Diners caught their first glimpses of owner John Tunney’s ambitious beautification project, which included a gorgeous and spacious bar area and a 90-seat dining room featuring whitewashed walls, re-claimed barn wood and framed local art.

The all-day brunch eatery will be open six days a week, staying closed on Mondays until Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 20. The Shed offers all-day brunch until 4 p.m., then switches to a dinner menu that includes “brunch favorites.”
