Jack Coan and No. 13 Wisconsin notch big win over No. 18 Iowa

|

Wisconsin quarterback Jack Coan threw for two touchdowns Saturday in the Badgers 24-22 win at home over Big Ten foe Iowa.

The junior from Sayville helped No. 13 Wisconsin (7-2) get back in the win column following back-to-back road losses against Illinois and Ohio State. After completing 16 of 25 passes for 173 yards, Coan is fourth in the nation in pass completion percentage.

Coan led an offensive attack that included 250 yards on the ground from Heisman Trophy candidate Jonathan Taylor. His 4-yard touchdown pass to Danny Davis III capped a 13-play, 71-yard drive that gave Wisconsin a 14-6 lead at halftime.

Wisconsin extended its lead to 21-6 when Coan connected with Quintez Cephus on a 27-yard touchdown pass. Earlier in the drive, Coan completed a 52-yard pass to Cephus.

Coan, who led Sayville to a Long Island championship in 2015 and earned the Hansen Award as Suffolk County’s most outstanding player in 2016, now has 12 touchdown passes and three interceptions in his first full season as a starter.
