It’s never too cold for a ribbon cutting.
Braving the season’s chilliest temperatures, members of the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce Saturday morning officially christened Hammer & Stain as part of the Sayville business community.
Sandra Bernius, the owner of the do-it-yourself woodworking studio, did the honors of cutting the ribbon.
She was joined by chamber President Eileen Tyznar; chamber 1st Vice President Caitlyn Collins; chamber 2nd Vice President Ron Trotta; chamber Treasurer Patti Owens; chamber board members Chris Olsen and Lucy Bonney; Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter; and Islip Councilwoman Mary Kate Mullen.
“Hammer & Stain is such a nice addition to Main Street,” said Eileen Tyznar, president of the chamber of commerce. “It is great to be able to have do-it-yourself workshops, as well as being able to have a place to host groups of people for a fun gathering.”
Tyznar said the chamber board is planning a team building event at the studio, which was also celebrating its “First Birthday.” Hammer & Stain opened last November in Bayport, before moving to a bigger space at 15 Main St. in August.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, the studio hosted a walk-in workshop, which included classic projects, give-a-ways and promotions.
The studio is Long Island’s first Hammer & Stain. Similar to paint-and-sip classes, guests at Hammer & Stain are guided by instructors through the process of transforming unfinished wood into attractive and colorful personalized works of art.
