Nettle & Rose, the new herbal apothecary and holistic specialty shop in West Sayville, hit the ground running Saturday afternoon, following a morning ribbon cutting ceremony organized by the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce.
The brainchild of 32-year-old Blue Point native Bay Rose, Nettle & Rose features herbal remedies, vegan treats and bulk nuts, flours, dried fruits and spices.
A steady stream of inquisitive customers came to the 77 West Main St. location early Saturday afternoon, some already knowing what they wanted and others looking for direction on which herbs may address their dietary needs.
Rose is a 2009 Siena College philosophy graduate who with an eye toward eventually opening Nettle & Rose returned to school for culinary arts and holistic nutrition in 2013. She envisions the shop “as a space that encompasses numerous options for one’s own self-healing, self-care and self-study.”
Nettle & Rose will be open Wednesday to Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m., and on Sundays, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce President Eileen Tyznar said “Nettle & Rose will be a great success and will make their mark in West Sayville because of their unique, self-healing products and one-to-one consultation services.”
