MoMo’s, Island Life selling shirts to benefit Angela’s House children

|

The MoMo’s restaurants in Bayport and Holbrook have teamed up with the fledgling local apparel company Island Life to help Angela’s House, a Long Island non-profit that provides services and supports for medically frail children.

MoMo’s has been selling Island Life t-shirts at its two locations for $20 apiece, and the first order of 100 flew off the shelves, said MoMo’s owner Rich Comunale.

And the second shipment as just arrived.

The first effort raised over $1,000 for Angela’s House in a week, Comunale said.

Angela’s House, now in its 27th year, assists families caring for medically frail children living at home with their parents or in special homes that offer 24-hour nursing support, reads the charity’s website.

Without Angela’s House, Long Island families would have to live far from their children. That, or these families must relocate to Upstate or Connecticut, where large 24/7 care facilities do exist.

All proceeds from the shirt sales will go toward buying Christmas gifts for Angela’s House children, and gift cards for their families.

“I’ve never been so excited to not make any money,” said Comunale.

After learning all about Angela’s House, Island Life founder Bill Davis of East Patchogue, said he jumped at the chance to help with his friend Comunale.

“Before launching Island Life I knew that I wanted to give back to my community,” Davis told GreaterSayville. “As soon as [Comunale] mentioned Angela’s House I knew I wanted to do my part in raising money for these amazing kids.”

“We are so incredibly appreciative of this gesture shown by both Rich and Bill,” said Johanna Rotta, Angela’s House’s director of development. “We’ve had the great pleasure of working with Rich via the summer fundraiser he does with Orlando from 94.3 FM The Shark and have gotten to know his heart of gold; going above and beyond for us and the other partner charities that he works with.

“This money will go a long way in helping us buy specialized presents for the medically fragile children who reside in our homes, and who may not be able to enjoy more conventional toys.

“It will allow them to receive the same joy as their siblings during the holiday season. A special thank you to the amazing staff at both Momo’s locations for pushing the sales of these shirts and wearing them so well!”

The shirts are being sold at MoMo’s Sports Bar & Grill, located at 350 Union Avenue #1917 in Holbrook, and MoMo’s Too, which opened in Bayport in 2016 at 667 Montauk Highway.
