30 photos: Beauty of a day at Sayville homecoming

|

It was all about the smiles and cheers at homecoming today in Sayville.

Hundreds of happy students, teachers, merchants, cheerleaders, youth athletes and other community members breezed through downtown Sayville in the homecoming day parade. Later, the Sayville football team took care of business on the high school field, downing Harborfields, 49-12, to remain undefeated.

The Golden Flashes pulled off a successful onside kick on the game’s first play, but stumbled a bit after that, turning the ball over on their first two possessions. Soon enough, the ship was righted, and after a second-quarter safety put the home team up 8-0, it was all Sayville the rest of the way.

The annual festivities started at noon with the parade kicking at the Sayville Fire Department on North Main Street. The football game started at 2 p.m.

GreaterSayville.com was on the street and at the field to capture the spirit of the day. Check out our 30 photos, and be sure click on boxes 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 to see them all.
