Sayville High School Hosts Dodgeball Tourney

Carrying the motto, “We are stronger than cancer,” 150 Sayville High School students and two faculty teams (the Math Team and The Phil-A-Busters) competed in a dodgeball tournament earlier this month to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The event was organized by the junior class and refereed by class advisers Lynn Ann Perlin and Sue Hart.

Math Team players wore creative t-shirts and headbands. Math Department Chairman Adam Brown noted that the teachers had a blast playing against the students, and added that he was impressed that every teacher in his department managed to show up for work the next day after the physically demanding competition.

“The collegiality demonstrated by our colleagues did not go unnoticed,” said high school Principal Ron Hoffer. “It was a great night for a great cause.”
