20 Photos: Pure Barre fitness studio opening in Bayport in time for Halloween

|

Bayport-Blue Point High School alumna Sara Kuhar has come home again — and this time she’s bringing barre fitness with her.

Kuhar’s Pure Barre studio will open at the end of October — in time for Halloween — in the shopping plaza at 905 Montauk Highway in Bayport, two doors down from Starbucks.

“I love that I will be located in a shopping center I grew up going to,” said Kuhar, 32, who is opening the studio with her husband Dan. “I did not realize before I started this process how nice it is to work with other local businesses.

“Having friends and neighbors act as connections and contacts to help me grow my business has been heartwarming and exciting,” added Kuhar, who hosted a well-attended, pop-up class Sunday morning inside Cornucopia Natural Foods health food store in Sayville (SEE PHOTOS BELOW THIS STORY).

Kuhar graduated from Providence University, then moved to Manhattan and worked seven years at a public accounting firm there. In the city, she began working out a Pure Barre, which incorporates the ballet barre in delivering total body workouts focused on low-impact, high intensity movements to improve muscle tone, strength, agility and flexibility.

“I was missing dance, and I (was) sitting at a desk for at least eight hours a day,” said Kuhar, 32, a mother of two children. “After trying a few different types of barre, I found Pure Barre, and that is when my love of barre truly started.”

Soon after moving back to Bayport in early 2017, Kuhar became a Pure Barre teacher.

“Pure Barre is more than just a work-out. Pure Barre allows you to truly focus on yourself for 50 minutes of the day,” she said. “You leave every class feeling stronger than you did when you walked in.”

Weekday classes at Pure Barre in Bayport will be held at 5:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The studio will also conduct classes on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
