Homecoming in Bayport-Blue Point is on Saturday: Here’s what you need to know

|

One of the season’s first homecoming events is Saturday in Bayport-Blue Point.

Hardly a tree leaf has fallen and the Phantoms are playing just their third football game of the season, but the tight-knit communities of Bayport and Blue Point are locked in for a festive time during the annual tradition.

There’s even still time to be part of the fun tonight at Momo’s Too in Bayport, where the Bayport Blue Point Booster Club is hosting its Homecoming Bash until 11 p.m.

Here’s what you need to know about the big day’s festivities:

THE CEREMONY

The Bayport-Blue Point Athletic Hall of Induction is 10 a.m. at Bayport-Blue Point High School.

THE PARADE

At 11:30 a.m., the homecoming parade will begin at Blue Point Elementary School and proceed along Railroad Street to the high school.

GAME TIME

The varsity football squad hits the field at Bayport-Blue Point High School at 1 p.m.

THE HOME TEAM

Bayport-Blue Point is looking to notch its first win of the season. So far, the Phantoms are 0-2, having lost 20-0 to Center Moriches last Saturday and 41-7 to Shoreham-Wading River on Sept. 6.

THE OPPONENT

Greenport/Southold/Mattituck is coming off a 54-12 loss to Wyandanch. A week earlier, the team suffered a 40-8 loss to Southampton/Bridgehampton/Pier.

THE WEATHER

Expect a bright and warm afternoon, with temperatures topping out at 78 degrees and humidity levels remaining tolerable. Wind will not likely be a factor in the game.

AFTER PARTY

After the game, Cavanaugh’s in Blue Point will host the Kerry Lawler Scholarship Fund Homecoming Party from 4-6 p.m.
