Grand Opening for Rescued Treasures in Oakdale

|

No more “Wheels on the Bus” for Kim Dasch.

The Sayville mother of two has traded her bus matron position for entrepreneurship. Dasch was joined Saturday by family, friends and dignitaries at the grand opening of her high-end thrift and consignment shop Rescued Treasures in Oakdale.

“I had always been into the latest fashions, and I had built up quite a collection at home,” said Dasch, 35, who was with her daughter Kielley, 5, and son Gunnison, 2. “So I figured why not open up a shop.”

Dasch, who also works part-time at Almost Home Animal Rescue & Adoption in Patchogue, explained that in addition to her own items for sale, she has various consignment agreements. The former school bus monitor has also instituted a “Drop Off for Rescues” program, where profits from donated merchandise are given to local animal shelter in need and used to pay for vaccinations for wildlife rehabilitation.

Among the guests who participated in the grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony were Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce President Eileen Tyznar, the chamber’s 2nd Vice President Ron Trotta, chamber board member Chris Olsen, Islip Town Councilman John Cochrane Jr. and representatives for Islip Town Councilwoman Mary Kate Mullen and Suffolk County Legislator William J.Lindsay III.

Rescued Treasures is located at 585 Montauk Highway in Oakdale, in the same shopping plaza as the new Fit Body Boot Camp gym.
