For the rest of July in Sayville, the streets on the weekend will belong to sales.

The Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce’s “Sizzling Summer Weekend Sidewalk Sales” start up this Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will continue the remainder of the month.

“Our stores will be pulling out of their great sales and promotional items onto the sidewalk to attract new customers, and bring in customers we already have,” chamber President Eileen Tyznar said. “Plus, we’re going to have strolling face painters and balloon artists for the kids.”

Local scout troops will be handing out bubbles and chalk to children, in addition to an array of activities along Main Street and Railroad Ave. Stores and restaurants in downtown Sayville — on Main and South Main streets and Candee, Railroad and Gillette avenues — are expected to take part in the annual tradition.

Tyznar said West Sayville merchants will also participate in the festivities. The sidewalk sales will be pet friendly — many of the store owners put out doggy water bowls and treats.
