Bayport’s Momo’s Too and 94.3 The Shark hosting ‘Birthday Bash for Angela’s House’

Momo’s Too in Bayport and rock station 94.3 The Shark will pair up again on Saturday, June 29, to host a second annual party to raise money for medically fragile children.

The Orlando Birthday Bash for Angela’s House features performances by popular 1990s rockers Sponge and the grunge tribute band, Black Circle Project, along with unique autographed items for auction from Run DMC, WWE superstars, and rock bands like Candlebox, Halestorm and Shinedown.

The event — which includes a free buffet and a suggested $10 donation – goes from 3-7 p.m. inside Momo’s Too at 667 Montauk Highway.

“The moment I received the $9,600 raised in four hours from last year’s inaugural ‘Orlando’s Birthday Bash for Angela’s House,’ I started thinking about how to make this year even bigger,” said Bayport native and 94.3 The Shark morning host Orlando. “This is a chance to not only raise money, but an immense opportunity to raise awareness about this amazing but sometimes overshadowed organization.”

Based in Hauppauge, Angela’s House assists families caring for children with special health care needs who are medically fragile, chronically ill or living with a life-threatening illness. The organization helps families obtain supportive services and works to improve their quality of life.

“Angela’s House deals with the everyday struggle of caring for medically fragile children,” said Orlando, who has worked with Angela’s House for a decade.

The radio deejay witnessed how Angela’s House helped a co-worker’s family, triggering his involvement with the organization, and spurring him to organize a 24-telethon to raise money for the group.

“When I saw how much they helped my friend and his family, I fell in love with what Angela’s House did,” said Orlando, who scheduled the first Birthday Bash at Momo’s Too last year in coordination with his own 40th birthday.

“At 40 years old, your birthday is just another day,” he said. “I figured why not turn it into something positive for a labor of love of mine.”

Tickets will also be available at Momos Too for a bus ride to Revolution Bar & Music Hall  in Amityville at 8 p.m. to see Sponge and Black Circle Project play full sets before returning to Momos shortly after midnight.

“We want to show Long Islanders that this is a wonderful organization to support,” Orlando said. “With the support of 94.3 The Shark, and the generosity of our brothers and sisters on this crazy island, we have a chance to do that and more.”
