Sayville baseball’s championship dogpile is one for the ages

|

Incredibly, everyone emerged still smiling.

The dogpile celebration following the final out in Sayville’s Long Island Class A baseball championship win Saturday night over Nassau County’s Clarke was a bit jaw dropping.

First, Sayville pitcher Brock Murtha — who had just completed a no hitter — was mobbed by more than a dozen teammates. That’s to be expected.

But then came the two classmates with  backpacks, and the kid with a white baseball cap — and some 30 other wildly enthusiastic high school students. All of them added to the heaping pile.

”Oh my god. Oh my god,” a young woman can be heard saying on the video.

Check out the mountainous celebration captured by Axcess Baseball:

The students’ joy was fueled by Brock’s thrilling performance on the mound — and the fact they were commemorating Sayville high school’s first ever Long Island championship.
