‘Donut Burger’ — featuring Fritzsche Bakery’s glazed doughnut — is what’s for dinner at W. Sayville’s South Shore Dive

|

Fritzsche’s Bakery in Sayville is closed for the day, but have no fear.

You can still feast on one of their delicious glazed doughnuts — and celebrate National Doughnut Day the right way — by chowing down on the South Shore Dive‘s special Donut Burger.

The popular West Sayville hangout tonight only is sandwiching an eight-ounce angus beef burger and cheddar cheese between slices of a shiny Fritzche glazed doughnut. The special treat is garnished with foie gras, lettuce, tomato, pickles and edible gold, and covered in hoisin sauce.

It’s a bonafide triple threat — pleasing to the eyes, pallot and tummy.

“My boss bought like all of them (Fritzche’s doughnuts),” Dive chef Pedro Morales said, referring to the bar’s owner Bobby Gulinello. “He bought four, maybe five dozen.”

Morales said the Dive routinely looks to tie popular “National” days into the menu.

The kitchen stays open late — until 1 a.m. But there’s no telling how fast barstoolers will scoop up these piles of deliciousness.
