Bluestone Tavern in West Sayville closing in July

|

The popular Bluestone Tavern in West Sayville is closing, owners announced late Wednesday.

Lovin’ Oven Catering said the old-school chophouse will serve its last burgers, steaks and drafts on July 21, marking an end to the restauranteur’s 16-year run inside what once was a grand historic mansion at 21 Main St.

“It is truly bittersweet to announce that Bluestone Tavern will be serving its last meal,” ownership stated in an announcement posted on Bluestone’s website. “”It has been our sincere honor and pleasure to serve this community … We are very grateful to all of our customers over the years, as well as our fine employees who made serving you possible.”

Taking over the location will be the owners of Besito in West Islip, Huntington and Roslyn, and The Shed in Huntington.

Before becoming Bluestone Tavern in 2014, the restaurant operated as 21 Main Prime Steakhouse. Tabbed by Lovin’ Oven as a “traditional gastropub” and “West Sayville’s best gathering place,” Bluestone has a romantic feel, is fit with mahogany accents and features a menu with diverse food and beer choices.
